Perfect Corp., the beauty tech solutions provider behind the virtual beauty try-on app YouCam Makeup, announces Q2 2020 “Global Beauty Trends Report” focusing on the shift in digital beauty consumer behaviors during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The report analyzes changes in YouCam Makeup’s virtual makeup try-on statistics over the last two months and highlights key consumer preference shifts across different makeup categories. These insightful findings will help beauty brands respond and adapt to rapid consumer behavioral and market changes and maintain strong digital connections with their consumers.
The Global Beauty Trends Report focuses on five different countries that have observed the highest increases in virtual makeup try-ons within the YouCam Makeup app during the pandemic: Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, and the United States. The study revealed that virtual makeup trials have significantly increased on a global scale, with a 28% increase between 2/24 and 4/6. Safety regulations requiring mandatory face masks covering the mouth and nose resulted in heightened attention to eye makeup with virtual beauty try-ons in this category (which includes mascara, false eyelashes, eyebrows, eye shadow, and colored contacts) generating the most interest in the 5 analyzed countries, with total tryouts increasing by nearly 30%. The report’s analysis of consumer virtual try-on behavior predicts that the focus on eye makeup will remain even post-pandemic and beauty products focused around enhancing the eyes will continue to surge in popularity.
