Architecture, planning, interiors and graphic design firm MVE + has named Timothy Smallwood as a senior associate partner and the firm’s new director of institutional services. Smallwood will help expand the firm’s institutional architecture and design studio across Southern California and beyond.
From 2000 to 2006, Smallwood served as an associate and project director at MVE, where he helped the firm complete numerous residential, commercial office and institutional projects. Since that time, he has served in a variety of management positions at architectural firms including Robert Hidey Architects, LPA and KTGY.
“We’re excited to welcome Timothy Smallwood back as the newest member of MVE’s leadership team,” said Matt McLarand, president of MVE. “Not only does he bring over two decades of design expertise, but he truly embodies our culture and has a deep understanding of our business philosophy, allowing him to successfully lead and elevate our institutional architecture practice.”
A LEED-accredited professional, Smallwood specializes in sustainable design practices. His proficiency in building code and Division of the State Architect (DSA) compliance will also help streamline processing timelines and save costs for MVE clientele. Smallwood earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Southern California and studied urban design and architecture in Como, Italy.
