Corenet NYC Hosts Streetwise Mock Interview Volunteer Event

The CoreNet NYC Young Leaders Committee hosted a mock interview event with StreetWise Partners on Tuesday November 27, 2018, attracting the largest turnout of CoreNet Volunteers for this event to date.

Mock Interviews for Career Development

StreetWise is a non-profit organization whose mission is to harness the mentoring resources of the private sector to reduce unemployment within disadvantaged communities of New York City and Washington, D.C. CoreNet NYC has been partnering with StreetWise since 2016. Mock interview events help StreetWise mentees learn professional skills to be used during employment interviews. Streetwise mentees who are unemployed or underemployed are provided resources and access to networks needed to secure and maintain employment. CoreNet members conducted three separate mock interviews in the roles of “HR Manager,” “Line Manager” and “CEO” and provided feedback to motivated, job-seeking mentees to prepare them for their next job interview.

“Giving back to the community has consistently been an integral part of the Young Leaders Committee’s agenda,” said Young Leaders Group Chair Alison Kwiatkowski, Vice President, Project and Development Services at Deutsche Bank for JLL. “We are always excited to partner with StreetWise and to host these events. These mock interviews are educational for both StreetWise mentees and CoreNet members who are learning valuable interviewer skills.”

CoreNet NYC will host its inaugural CoreNet-only event with StreetWise in 2019.
