The Altman Companies Recognized as Home Innovation Green Partner of Excellence for Third Consecutive Year

The Altman Companies, a nationally recognized developer of exceptional rental apartment communities, has been named a Home Innovation NGBS Green Partner of Excellence for 2018. This is the third consecutive year that The Altman Companies has received this honor.

The Altman Companies has constructed four apartment communities that were NGBS Green Certified by Home Innovation Research Labs including Altis Sand Lake, Altis Bonterra, Altis Shingle Creek and Altis Wiregrass Ranch and two communities that are under construction that are going for the NGBS Certification (Altis Promenade and Altis Grand Central).

Additionally, Altman also has in its portfolio two midrise communities that are LEED-certified (Altis Boca Raton and Altis Pembroke Gardens).

Both properties maintain a small carbon footprint with on-site recycling, “Green” amenities, electric car charging stations, convenient bike storage racks, bike workshop, energy efficient designer lighting, ENERGY STAR® appliances, and high efficiency water heater. The properties are also 100% smoke-free. Altís Boca Raton was also recently named a finalist for a Structures Award from the South Florida Business Journal – Best Green Project.

To earn certification to the National Green Building Standard, a multifamily building must meet rigorous criteria in six categories – Lot & Site Development; Resource Efficiency; Energy Efficiency; Water Efficiency; Indoor Environmental Quality; and Homeowner Education. There are mandatory practices in each category that every Green Certified home or building must meet, and there are a wide range of additional optional practices in each category that a builder can select based on the applicability to buyers or renters in their market. There are also mandatory point minimums in every category in order for a building to attain the next level of certification, which is a more stringent requirement than any other national certification program.
