Autumn is a season of fetching fall hues of gold and orange that perfectly reflect the colorful calendar full of fantastic events.

Film at Lincoln Center will present the 61st New York Film Festival, which highlights the best in world cinema. The event takes place from September 29 to October 15. An annual bellwether of the state of cinema that has shaped film culture since 1963, the festival continues an enduring tradition of introducing audiences to bold and remarkable works from celebrated filmmakers as well as fresh new talent. On October 2, Bradley Cooper’s highly anticipated “Maestro” will make its North American premiere during the Spotlight Gala at David Geffen Hall on October 2. filmlinc.org

The 31st Annual Hamptons International Film Festival will also take place from October 5 to October 12. The art world will display a spectacular showcase when MvVO ART returns with the AD ART SHOW 2023. It will take place at Powerhouse Arts in Brooklyn from October 15 to 16. This contemporary art show bridges the art world and the advertising industry by featuring fine art created by artists working in advertising, design, directly for brands and in related fields, or who began in the industry. The exhibit includes paintings, sculptures, drawings, photography and mixed media works that will all be shown at the leading contemporary Art Fabrication Facility housed in the former Brooklyn Rapid Transit power plant. MvVO ART is an innovative art venture founded by Maria van Vlodrop. mvvoart.com

A special kickoff event on October 24, will pay tribute to the 63rd Annual Quadrille Ball, a white-tie charity event for prospective dancers and Quadrille Committee members. The evening affair will take place on February 24, 2024, at 583 Park.

The annual ball is a fundraiser for scholarships awarded to highly qualified American and German undergraduate and graduate students including PhD candidates. The Quadrille was founded decades ago to enhance and strengthen transatlantic relationships through education. Through its non-profit parent organization, the Germanic Society of America, the Quadrille supports undergraduate, Master and PhD students. quadrilleball.org

The season is also time for special holiday soirées. Actress, philanthropist and author Leesa Rowland will host her “Royal Halloween Ball” on October 27 in New York City produced by Hank Stampfl’s Revel Rouge. Last year’s grand affair had notable attendees dressed up in the full spirit of the night such as Larry Wohl, Marc Bouwer, Pedro Oberto, Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg, Ramona Singer, Stewart F. Lane, Bonnie Comley and Nikki Haskell. leesarowland.net
