Why is it that we use the most expensive cream on our face and neck and even use excess on our hands but forget our body? Our face makes up a fraction of our entire body yet gets all the attention. We should shift some of the focus to the largest organ, our skin.
In my ongoing search for ways to look and be my best, I discovered Broadband light (“BBL”). Rather than a Med Spa laser, BBL is a top-of-the-line plastic surgeon’s laser. Dr. Frederic Barr says, “By using precise laser technology, Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery can selectively target and remove damaged skin cells, revealing healthier and more radiant skin.” BBL is more precise with manipulating energy through different handpieces and attachments.
Targeting the body can be more intense and time-consuming. Bringing up the spots with a BBL or an Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is more difficult on the body as opposed to the face, causing a longer recovery time, which deters some from trying. I found BBL to work wonders during my recent visit to their West Palm Beach office. My technician held the laser with skill and precision, and I felt strongly this made a big difference. It really is the right technician and setting that matters the most. I will be heading back soon to evaluate and see what else is needed.
An ongoing curiosity has me looking at how my once cute freckles transitioned to spots. Recognizing that spots are not universally bad, however, they warrant monitoring for changes in color, size and variation in the edges. My ongoing commitment is to learn, get better and be better. With two to three treatments, this may be the magic approach that allows me to stave off any major issues.
The same with lasers, sunscreen needs to be applied all over, rather than just our face, ears and hands. This got me thinking about everyday life, going to events, taking walks, playing tennis or a round of golf. To combat the effects of the Florida sun even in the winter, wear protective clothing and use SPF. Long-sleeve cotton shirts, leggings under gold and tennis skirts, and brands with built-in SPF such as WATSKIN, are great options.
Keep in mind that our bodies are in a constant state of change and we are limited in our view of what goes on beneath the surface. Being intentional and identifying the very best practitioners who invest in their education and state-of-the-art technology to treat and educate their clients is key. Partnering with practitioners on my health and wellness journey is my proven, winning recipe.
I encourage everyone to dedicate time to follow-up after each treatment and seek ongoing care to achieve optimal results. And, if you are interested in keeping apprised of my progress, feel free to message me on Instagram and I will share my journey. A wise friend once said you must triple-track after 40 to get a quarter of the effects which means we need to stay on top of it. In the health and wellness game, it is never one and done! I have been following this program for a while now and am happy to report, it is working splendidly.
