How sweet it will be: It’Sugar will open what it calls the world’s first candy department store at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
With a 60-foot-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty made entirely of candy stationed at the entrance, the store will span 22,000 square feet over three levels. Unlike other concepts such as Hershey’s Chocolate World, It’Sugar will be the world’s largest non-manufacturer candy store, offering 10,000 choices of candy with in-store shops featuring Sour Patch Kids, Oreo, Nerds, Reese’s and more. The flagship will be located within the entertainment atrium at American Dream, adjacent to the DreamWorks Water Park entrance and near Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park and the property’s NHL-size ice rink.
“We’ve all heard the expression ‘like a kid in a candy store’ – but this larger-than-life candy experience will exceed all expectations for those who are young and young at heart,” said Don Ghermezian, CEO of American Dream. “This entirely new concept will be a must-see, must-visit and must-taste for all looking to satisfy their sweet tooth.”
The store’s opening date had not been announced at press time. American Dream will open on October 25.
“This concept has been a dream of mine for over 25 years and our It’Sugar team is thrilled to partner with American Dream to finally make it a reality,” says Jeff Rubin, founder and CEO, It’Sugar. “There is nowhere else like American Dream and we look forward to immersing the property’s millions of guests into the world of It’Sugar.”
