Industry leader Kent Swig delivered a special keynote at the Brown University Real Estate Group (BREG) Next Gen Panel. The keynote was a tribute to the late Josef Mittleman who was a leader in the real estate industry as well as a professor of real estate in the Engineering Department at Brown University. Among professor Mittleman’s executive positions that he held in the real estate industry, he served as President of Silverstein Properties as well as the founder and president of his own real estate firm. Among one of New York’s prominent owners and developers, Swig is widely regarded for his pioneering role in the transformation of the Financial District (FIDI) into one of the city’s most vibrant submarkets. The Brown University event was a tribute to Josef Mittlemann ’72, and BREG hosted this special evening showcasing the next generation of leaders in real estate.
Mittlemann was both a friend and mentor to me and to so many in the real estate industry and I am honored to help recognize his outstanding contributions to the Brown community during his lifetime,” said Kent Swig.
The BREG Next Gen panel included Ethan Silverstein, Vice Chairman of Cushman & Wakefield, Brennan Gilbane Koch, Manager of Client and Partner Relations and Business Development of Gilbane Building, Cooper Kramer, Managing Director of Savanna, Michelle Flagg, Co-Founder of Ms. Hospitality, and Lee Hoffman, Co-Founder of Heat Watch.
This year marks the fifth year anniversary of the BREG, which launched in 2014 by both Professor Mittleman and Kent Swig. Today BREG continues to grow and expand with active chapters in both New York and San Francisco. BREG also has an Advisory Board featuring the most prominent names in the industry. Since its formation, BREG has produced more than 50 events to date including panel discussions, case studies, tours, career development events, networking/cocktail receptions, student competitions, and more.
