Fosun Hive has announced that Court 16, a contemporary tennis company, leased 7,000 square feet at 28 Liberty in Lower Manhattan. Expected to open at year-end, the facility will be Court 16’s third club in New York City and first in the Financial District.
In advance of the opening, Fosun’s 28 Liberty will host special events at Fosun Plaza in support of the local community to promote tennis and pickleball access to residents and employees in downtown Manhattan, as well as nearby neighborhoods. Court 16 introduced its flagship in Gowanus, Brooklyn in 2014 and second location in Long Island City, Queens in 2018 — the first tennis facility in the world to feature customized LED tennis courts.
The Financial District location will be the only facility in Manhattan to feature permanent indoor pickleball courts. Specialized courts will also be used for Court 16’s established Kids Tennis Academy, as well as programs for adults including swing analysis and target training.
“28 Liberty offers landmarked architecture, proximity to public transport, dynamic retail space and exciting cultural and community events,” said Thomas Costanzo, Global Partner of Fosun and CEO of Four Trees Asset Management. “It is the perfect home for Court 16 FiDi and we are pleased to bring such a unique facility to our building.”
Court 16’s core programming — for children ages 2.5 through 15 — features both group and private instruction. Group classes and camps are tailored by age and skill level. Additionally, the modular construction of Court 16 clubs allow for highly personalized training programs, customized school programs and special events. Adult programming focuses on learning foundational techniques and energized tennis conditioning classes; players of all levels connect with the sport to unlock their full potential.
