Irish-based value fashion chain Primark continues its U.S. expansion with three stores to open in the New York City metropolitan area by year-end. The first of the three opened on November 17 at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City. Units on Jamaica Avenue in Queens and City Point in Brooklyn will follow. Primark will then have five stores in the region.
The 44,290-square-foot Long Island store will be the company’s 14th store in the U.S. and 409th unit overall. Primark has announced plans to reach 60 stores in the country by 2026. The new Jamaica Avenue store will open on December 1, with City Point to debut on a date to be announced shortly.

Founder Arthur Ryan opened Primark’s first store in Dublin, Ireland in 1969 as Penney’s, and the company’s 36 stores in its home country retain that name. It expanded to the U.K. in 1973, and to the European continent in 2008. Its first U.S. store opened in Boston in 2015. Today, Primark operates in 14 countries.
