Accessories will have another home in Union Square, with Claires’ signing a long-term lease at 863 Broadway.
The jewelry, accessories and toy chain has taken 2,640 square feet (1,440 square feet on ground floor; 1,200 square feet on basement level) and will offer piercings as well as merchandise. Beth Rosen and Emily Kripitz of Ripco Real Estate served as the agency broker; Adam Zeiberg of AZ Retail Consulting LLC represented the tenant.
“We have been seeing an increase in traditional mall brands expanding their presence into urban, high traffic location including well-known brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle’s Aerie,” said Rosen, executive vice president at Ripco. “We are thrilled to see American mall brands focusing on opening new storefronts following a time of uncertainty in the market. We are confident that this location will further the brand’s growth as well as offer the community with a well-known jewelry and piercing retailer.”
Located between West 17th and 18th Streets, 863 Broadway is located in the heart of Union Square/Flatiron. The property neighbors a variety of well-known retailers including Doc Martens, Blue Mercury and Venchi, with Crate and Barrel coming soon.
