T&T Construction Management Group Inc., a woman-owned concrete specialty contractor, announced the launch of its internship program, designed to give back to future generations and provide insight into what it means to be part of a concrete specialty contractor business. Four interns joined the company during the summer months as part of this inaugural program. Two work in the Southeast Region, and two in the Northeast Region. Among the interns are students from Williamson College of the Trades, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Temple University and Everglades University.
The 10-week program provides robust exposure to different market sectors and hands-on experiences to build real-life skills and develop a deeper understanding of how a construction company operates. The interns will be exposed to field operations, project management and pre-construction. A team of distinguished mentors was assembled to help support and guide the interns, allowing for a more meaningful experience that reflects T&T’s dedication to promoting a tight-knit, collaborative culture. Interns are also introduced to the work of several internal departments, such as human resources, information technology, finance, safety, fleet, pre-construction and production.
“We are proud to do our part and launch our inaugural internship program! We have a strong group of interns who are motivated to gain exposure to the field and experience hands-on learning that will elevate them as they move forward with their career path,” said Rebecca Thomas, CEO. “At T&T Construction Management Group, we are dedicated to positively influencing the next generation of leaders. Our internship program structure, matched with our top-notch company culture, will encourage interns to grow their skills and explore the field meaningfully.”
The internship program includes developing skills such as daily planning and organization of the workforce, managing quality control, panel casting and erection, project setup with buying and logistics, cost control and budgets, change orders, estimating and bidding, plan reading and takeoff and vendor and supplier relations. A major goal of the program is to assist interns in successfully transitioning from internship to full-time team member positions.
