Italian hair and skincare boutique Barberino’s has opened its first U.S. location at 520 Madison Ave., the one-million-square-foot Plaza District office tower.

Barberino’s will operate out of a 753-square-foot retail space at the base of 520 Madison. Adorned with the brand’s signature shade of green, the shop features three barber chairs and offers tailored services including haircuts, shaves, beard trims, shampooing and hot towel service to accommodate diverse preferences and time constraints. It also boasts the company’s full line of in-house haircare and skincare products, as well as a curated selection of offerings from high-end brand partnerships.

Blending Italian grooming traditions with innovative techniques, Barberino’s operates 18 shops in Italy across major cities including Milan, Turin and Rome, and it opened its first international location in Seoul last year.

“At the heart of the Plaza District, 520 Madison Avenue was the ideal location for Barberino’s to plant their first U.S. flagship, with strong high-end co-tenancy and the ideal demographic for the upscale line of products and services on offer.  This grand opening marks an important milestone in Barberino’s ambitions to offer their luxurious self-care experience to clients the world over,” noted Lucas Kooyman, vice president at AM-PS.

“Barberino’s is the perfect addition to our retail mix, and we are honored they chose 520 Madison for their first U.S. location,” said Tishman Speyer Managing Director Alissa Bersin.  “With thoughtful design, high-end dining and premium amenities, 520 Madison embodies the vibrancy of the city and exclusivity of its Plaza District address.”

Built in 1982, the 43-story 520 Madison is known for its signature sloping architecture and polished red granite façade.

Schuster Group Inc.’s Scott Schuster and AM-PS’ Lucas Kooyman represented Barberino’s in identifying and securing their first boutique in the U.S.  Tishman Speyer was represented in the transaction by Alissa Bersin and Reed Zukerman of its in-house retail leasing team.
