Indoor Soccer Facility Announces First Manhattan Location at 28 Liberty

Socceroof, a high-end, indoor soccer facility, has signed a 20,000-square-foot lease at 28 Liberty, the landmarked office tower in Lower Manhattan, announced Fosun Hive. The new sports facility will expand sports and entertainment programming in 28 Liberty’s 200,000-square-foot retail destination.

Socceroof’s blueprint features several five-sided indoor soccer fields, making the sport more accessible for those who live in urban areas with limited access to green space. Co-founded by Jean-David Tartour and Jerome Meary in 2018, Socceroof has locations in Sunset Park, Brooklyn; Long Island City, Queens; Crown Heights, Brooklyn: New Rochelle, New York and two Montreal locations.

The facility follows in the footsteps of Tartour’s French startup, Le Fove, which now has dozens of venues throughout Europe. The company similarly focuses on providing players of all ages with world-class facilities to participate in small-sided matches while also giving adults the ability to socialize and relax in a mature setting.

Socceroof will be located on the same floor as Court16, a 13,000-square-foot pickleball and tennis club that recently expanded following extraordinary interest in its offerings. Both sports complexes offer lessons for children and adults as well as recreational leagues.

“There is incredible demand for access to quality soccer facilities in New York City, which is why we are pleased to open Socceroof’s first Manhattan location,” said Thomas Costanzo, global partner of Fosun and CEO of Four Trees Asset Management. “Socceroof has created an inclusive and dynamic environment across the boroughs, and this location will broaden Lower Manhattan’s recreational offerings year-round.”

28 Liberty was represented in the transaction by Jeffrey Roseman, vice chairman, Ross Kaplan, executive managing director and Drew Weiss, director, with Newmark Retail, while Socceroof was represented by Jordan Gosin, Newmark senior managing director.

Socceroof facilities can be privately booked for both recreational and business events while recreational pick-up, youth, and adult soccer leagues are also available to the public.
