The Surrey Residences Launch Sales in the Heart of the Upper East Side

The Surrey Residences, a collection of 14 private residences above The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel, has officially launched sales at 20 East 76th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side; however, after extraordinary interest and off-market sales, only the duplex penthouse remains, available at $50 million.

Built in 1926 as a residence hotel, The Surrey was a home away from home to many of New York’s most famous faces – JFK, Bette Davis, Rosemary Clooney, Tony Curtis, Claudette Colbert, Ethel Merman, and many more. The Surrey was known for its exceptional and discreet service allowing guests to retreat from the public and keep a low profile in an otherwise high-profile lifestyle. Now, building on its storied past, The Surrey revives a tradition established nearly 100 years ago, restoring the building’s glamor and sophistication.

Developed by Reuben Brothers, global leaders in real estate development and private equity, The Surrey Residences sit atop The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel, the first hotel property in the United States by international hospitality brand Corinthia Hotels. The Surrey has undergone an extensive transformation, as the Landmarked building, designed by master architects Schwartz & Gross, has been fully restored by BKSK Architects.

Residents at The Surrey will enter through a graceful lobby designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. The lobby features Noir St. Laurent and Calacatta marble flooring and bespoke glass ceiling fixtures that echo the glamor of the Art Deco period, as well as a thoughtfully curated contemporary art collection. Residents have a private elevator lobby with priority access to the elevators via key fob.

Set within the upper reaches of the landmarked hotel, starting on the 11th floor, residences with gracious layouts recall a prewar aesthetic and flow with contemporary proportions for entertaining. The 14 residences are made up of two and three bedrooms, and include a duplex penthouse with three private terraces with stunning views of picturesque, tree-lined streets and the Midtown skyline. All residences feature brand-new, custom casement windows designed to preserve their original 1926 aesthetic, with select homes inclusive of private terraces featuring landmarked brick parapets.

All residences feature private entry foyers, white oak flooring laid in a chevron pattern throughout, and solid custom-paneled entry and interior doors. Each residence also incorporates a rare amenity; a dedicated Concierge Closet built into the entryway that seamlessly and privately transfers packages, laundry, and room service.

Elegant kitchens include custom millwork cabinetry in stained white oak and cantilevered Calacatta Golden marble slab islands, as well as a fully integrated Miele Appliance suite. Primary baths feature custom vanities with fluted white oak millwork and white sand stone floor, countertop, surround, and trim, with both a steam shower and built-in Galatee bathtub with integrated headrest. State-of-the-art residential features include a secure keyless programmable entry system and highly efficient multi-zone heating and cooling HVAC system. All residences include a Whirlpool washer and dryer, with a full-sized laundry room with sink in select residences.

In collaboration with Invisible Collection, bespoke furniture and interior design services will be exclusively available for the Residences.

“With a coveted Upper East Side address, elevated hotel services, and ultimate privacy offered to buyers, it’s no surprise that The Surrey Residences are some of the most sought-after new luxury residential offerings this year,” said Susan de França, President and CEO of Douglas Elliman Development Marketing, who is exclusively handling sales and marketing.

Residents have full access to The Surrey, a Corinthia hotel, which includes a 24-hour attended lobby with doorman, concierge and all hotel services, including those of The Surrey Spa and a state-of-the-art fitness center with outdoor terrace. Residents have preferred access to the first New York City location of Casa Tua, the popular, stylish Mediterranean restaurant and cocktail lounge in the hotel, as well as included membership to the intimate Casa Tua Member’s Club. Residents also have exclusive access to The Surrey’s roof terrace, an elegant and intimate space that has been transformed into a private verdant oasis inspired by the English cottage garden.

Sales and Marketing for The Surrey Residences is exclusively represented by Douglas Elliman Development Marketing, led by top sales agents Lauren Muss and Michelle Griffith.
