Michael Graves Architecture Acquires Kollin Altomare Architects

In a move that expands its capabilities in the luxury hospitality sector and its West Coast presence, Princeton, N.J.-based Michael Graves Architecture (MG) has acquired Kollin Altomare Architects, a Los Angeles-based architecture and design firm renowned for its expertise in hospitality design.

Founded in 1995, Kollin Altomare is a full-service boutique design and planning firm specializing in the hospitality, residential and mixed-use sectors. With offices in Los Angeles and Chicago, the team has completed the design and renovation of over 400 hospitality and leisure projects worldwide. Recent work includes The Westin Beach Resort & Spa at Frenchman’s Reef and the Morningstar Buoy Haus Resort at Frenchman’s Reef, Autograph Collection in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club in Dana Point, Calif.; The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.; the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and the Hyatt Centric and Hyatt House to the downtown Vista district in Columbia, South Carolina.

Other recent MG acquisitions include Maryland-based Waldon Studio Architects, New Jersey-based Jose Carballo Architectural Group, North Carolina-based Walter Robbs Callahan & Pierce Architects, Washington, D.C.-based PGN Architects, Texas-based practice technology consultancy Parallax Team and Knoxville, Tenn.-based Studio Four Design. The firm also recently established a studio in Charlotte, N.C.
