Avison Young has arranged a new, 35,469-square-foot lease to bring New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) to the Radio Tower, Northern Manhattan’s first high-rise, mixed-use project in 50 years.

NYCBS will occupy the full eighth ninth and eleventh floors of the 23-story 500 West 181st St., developed by Youngwoo & Associates.

Clad in eight different colors of glazed ceramic brick, Radio Tower overlooks the Harlem and Hudson Rivers with expansive river-to-river views. The 305,000-square-foot mixed-use facility includes an 85,000-square-foot, 221-room boutique hotel and 167,000 square feet of Class A office space.

Avison Young’s Marty Cottingham, Michael Gottlieb, Patrick Steffens, Joel Wechsler and Alexis Odgers represented Youngwoo & Associates in the lease transaction, alongside Arthur J. Mirante II of Savills. Ari Malul of Schuckman Realty represented NYCBS.

“This marquee property in the heart of Washington Heights deserved a high-quality tenant that will bring a significant number of jobs and critical medical services to this vibrant community. Avison Young worked closely with Youngwoo & Associates to find the ideal use for this space and the world-class medical services offered by NYCBS will truly be a game-changer for the area,” said Cottingham.

NYCBS has more than 30 locations and 35 hospital affiliations throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties, in the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and Brooklyn. The medical facility is dedicated to eliminating barriers to care and reducing cancer disparities across the region and New York State. Their multidisciplinary approach offers patients advanced imaging, cutting-edge therapies, surgery, on-site lab and pharmacy services, and support services, such as psychology, nutrition and more.

The new location is expected to open this summer.
