New York-based architecture and design firm TPG Architecture LLP has promoted five professionals in two of its studios.
In its Retail Studio, Christina Faley, WELL AP, IIDA, Katie Kanakos, AIA and Jon Fox have been promoted to managing associate and Sarah Whalen to creative director. In its healthcare practice, Claudia Opel, RA, LEED AP, has been promoted managing associate.
Faley, an Irish native, joined TPG in 2016 and was named Retail Studio director less than a year ago. Her projects include El Palacio de Hierro, Mutual of America, UppaBaby and Tishman Speyer.
Kanakos has been with the firm for 10 years, working on a diverse portfolio that includes the design for the National Hockey League’s (NHL) flagship store at One Manhattan West in New York City’s Hudson Yards, multiple locations for a global athletic apparel and footwear brand and the nationwide brick-and-mortar rollout for luxury bedding company Boll & Branch.
Fox joined TPG in 2015, and has designed world-class destinations for luxury watchmakers, fine jewelers, and high-end automotive brands, as well as executed national retail rollouts for a range of clients.
A conceptual and technical architectural designer, Whalen’s 10-plus years in the industry includes award-winning retail spaces for industry-leading brands such as NHL, Boll & Branch, Birkenstock and El Palacio de Hierro.
A strategic project leader and trusted mentor, Opel joined TPG Architecture in 2020, bringing over two decades of experience in medical planning, design and construction. Her portfolio includes work with Memorial Sloan Kettering, Northwell Health, Mount Sinai, Atria Institute, Hospital for Special Surgery and NYU Langone Health.
