Shawmut Completes New Premium and Fan Space at Barclays Center

Shawmut Design and Construction has completed two new spaces at Barclays Center in partnership with Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (BSE): the Gallagher Terrace premium membership club and Modelo Bridge. The projects transform the arena’s west end into an elevated destination for guests and fans as part of BSE’s five-year, more than $100 million plan to enhance the visitor experience throughout the venue.

The 5,300-square-foot Gallagher Terrace replaces sections of the 40/40 Club and the Loge Boxes. Inspired by Brooklyn’s Gilded Age, the space features banquette seating, dynamic LED lighting, and the arena’s only in-seat dining experience with waiter service and visibility to the court. Guests can also enjoy a full-service bar with curated wines and a dedicated sommelier team, creating a level of hospitality that blends luxury and comfort.

Modelo Bridge, located on the upper concourse, is a two-level, 6,800-square-foot social hub designed as both a communal fan zone and activation space for performances and contests. The centerpiece, a raised platform shaped like a bridge, pays tribute to the borough’s iconic architecture and connects two standing-room decks with unobstructed views of games or entertainment and Downtown Brooklyn. The space includes the arena’s largest bar at 67 feet in length, food and merchandise kiosks, and artwork from local muralists commissioned in collaboration with Modelo.

Partnering with BSE, Populous designed the project and Shawmut led construction.

“Barclays Center is one of the most dynamic venues in the country, and this latest phase of its transformation adds to its world-class fan experience with The Gallagher Terrace and Modelo Bridge,” said David Margolius, executive vice president of Shawmut’s New York Metro region. “Our team collaborated closely with our partners at BSE and Populous to execute a fast-track, high-impact renovation that seamlessly blends functionality with a design that pays tribute to the Brooklyn community.”

Shawmut completed additional projects at Barclays Center this summer: the Garden Bar on the arena’s main concourse and six backstage dressing rooms, designed by The Brooklyn Home Company. Shawmut also led construction of phase one of Barclays Center’s multi-year renovation, which introduced two premium membership clubs, The Toki Row and JetBlue at The Key. The firm also worked on the Crown Club, the New York Liberty locker and weight rooms, and the team store, Brooklyn Fanatics.
