Avdoo, the New York City-based multi-disciplinary real estate development firm, today announced the closing of 68 King Street in Hudson Square. Acquired for $63 million with financing provided by Valley National Bank, the property marks a key step in Avdoo’s mission to bring an elevated residential experience to Hudson Square, a neighborhood that has rapidly evolved into one of Manhattan’s most dynamic hubs for technology, media, and culture.
“68 King Street marks our second Manhattan acquisition this year, and we look forward to soon unveiling the visionary design team behind it,” said Shlomi Avdoo, CEO and Founder of Avdoo. “At Avdoo, we collaborate with leading designers, from emerging talent to AD100 starchitects, to deliver architecture that enriches the communities we’re part of and elevates the lives of our residents. This project is our opportunity to contribute to Hudson Square’s evolving cultural and architectural identity.”
Located on the prime corner of King Street and Varick Street, 68 King Street will be a new residential development. Avdoo is known for placing architecture and design at the forefront, working with renowned talents like Taller Frida Escobedo, Workstead, Brent Buck Architects, INC Architecture and Design, and others to build projects that enhance the city’s cultural landscape and streetscape. 68 King Street will be the next architectural landmark in Avdoo’s portfolio.
Formerly a manufacturing and printing district, Hudson Square is now a hotspot for innovation and technology; the King Street site is just three blocks east of Google’s headquarters at St. John’s Terminal and two blocks north of The Walt Disney Company’s headquarters at 7 Hudson Square. The neighborhood is now a fusion of historic and modern architecture, and it’s ideally situated at the intersection of Soho, Greenwich Village, and Tribeca, home to some of the most desirable restaurants, fashion storefronts, and galleries in the city.
Earlier this year, Avdoo closed on its first project in the Upper East Side, 242 East 71st Street, which is currently under construction. Similar to 68 King Street, the uptown development will place design at the forefront to seamlessly fit within the neighborhood’s historic architectural fabric. In Brooklyn, Avdoo recently unveiled and began sales for its Cobble Hill condominium, 110 Boerum Place. Designed by Brent Buck Architects and Brook Landscape, the 21-unit residential building is a modern twist on the neighborhood’s historic brownstones with beautifully crafted interiors, exceptional amenities, and an abundance of private outdoor space. Nearby in Boerum Hill, Avdoo’s Bergen remains one of the best-selling new developments in New York City and recently surpassed 70% sold. Residents moved into the building this August.
