Nassimi Realty announced that Burlington and Planet Fitness have signed long-term leases totaling approximately 45,000 square feet at Joffco Square in Chicago, bringing the urban retail center to 100% occupancy.
The two transactions mark the culmination of a major leasing and repositioning effort at the property, which was approximately 50% occupied prior to the new leases.
Burlington has signed a 10-year lease for approximately 23,000 square feet, taking the former Ashley Furniture space. The retailer is relocating from its long-time location into a more efficient format while remaining in an established trade area. The new store is expected to open in the winter/spring of 2027.
Planet Fitness has signed a 12-year lease for approximately 22,000 square feet in the former Joann Fabrics space. Hoping to open in December 2026, the fitness operator will be a new entrant to the immediate market, capitalizing on significant population growth in the surrounding area and limited nearby competition.
“Burlington and Planet Fitness were ideal additions to Joffco Square because each transaction speaks to the strength and evolution of this market,” said Kevin Nassimi of Nassimi Realty. “Burlington was already a proven retailer in the area, and we were able to provide them with a right-sized space that allows them to remain in a market where they have performed successfully for years. Planet Fitness, meanwhile, saw an opportunity to enter a growing market with strong demographics and limited competition.”
CBRE represented the landlord in both transactions. Metro Commercial Real Estate represented Burlington and Planet Fitness.
