Electra USA announced that affiliate FW Sims has been tapped for the transportation of the Waldorf Astoria, located at 301 Park Ave. in Manhattan. Slated for completion in Q4 2023, the Waldorf Astoria restoration project involves extensive renovations and rehabilitation.

Commencing their work in 2020, F.W. Sims has undertaken the task of installing all core & shell HVAC piping systems, a feat that encompasses rooftop cooling towers, a state-of-the-art 3,600-ton chiller plant and a sophisticated boiler plant designed to provide efficient heating and cooling solutions for the entire establishment.

“Celebrating heritage and luxury in every meticulous detail, our Waldorf Astoria restoration project is a testament to our commitment to preserving the past while embracing the future. As we eagerly anticipate the grand unveiling in Q4 2023, we look forward to welcoming guests to an opulent experience that seamlessly marries timeless elegance with modern sophistication,” says Christopher Mills, president of Electra USA.

F.W. Sims has crafted the base building infrastructure, catering to the diverse needs of amenities, back-of-house operations and public spaces within the Waldorf Astoria, which opened in 1931.

The Waldorf Astoria restoration has been a project that demanded unwavering flexibility and rigorous drafting & coordination services, entailing navigating the intricacies of renovating a 90-year-old structure, where certain areas hold the distinction of being NYC Landmarks requiring special attention.

This restoration is not just a renovation; it’s a meticulous preservation of history while ushering in a new era of splendor, the firm said.
