James Beard Award-winning chefs Rita Sodi and Jody Williams signed a lease for an as-yet-unnamed American restaurant concept at 50 Commerce Street in the West Village, announced Winick Realty Group. The restaurant is schedule to open in the fall.
The corner location, owned by Kingsman Management LLC, comprises 1,800 square feet of ground-floor space and a 1,500-square-foot prep kitchen in the basement. Prior tenants include Blue Mill Tavern, Grange Hall and, most recently, Commerce.
“It was an honor and a pleasure to work with the landlord and tenant on this iconic corner restaurant space in the West Village,” said Charles Rapuano, Winick Realty Group director, who brokered the deal with Matthew Schuss of JLL. “We had several offer from the top restaurateurs, including Jody and Rita, and I’m very excited to see what they do with the space and what they bring to the neighborhood.”
Sodi and Williams currently operate multiple restaurants in the West Village, including Via Carota and the recently opened Bar Pisellino.
