Housework to Open First Pilates Studio in Flatiron

Housework, the Pilates-based, online, full-body workout method, is launching its first-ever flagship studio in New York City at 12 East 18th St. on March 15.

Founded by Sydney Miller, the app blends low-impact Pilates-based exercises with high-intensity cardio and strength training, all choreographed to the beat of the music. The brand has cultivated a devoted community both online and through sold-out pop-ups across the country, and now, the studio will open in the exact space where Miller took her first SoulCycle class, a moment that launched her career in fitness, and where she taught for almost a decade. Miller developed the Housework workout, took it to Zoom during the pandemic and then developed an app.

“I didn’t always know I wanted a brick-and-mortar space, but by early 2024, my in-person events were giving me and the Housework community so much life that I felt called to create something more permanent,” Miller said. “One day, I was walking through Flatiron, reflecting on where it all began, when I noticed leasing signs going up on the very building where I had spent years teaching. It felt like fate.”

The Housework flagship studio will offer a full schedule of classes, seven days a week, while simultaneously elevating its live-streamed offerings. The studio will also serve as community hub.

“The fact that Housework has been around for over seven years, thriving online and through pop-ups, gives us a major advantage,” says Miller. “This method is tested, loved, and proven. Now, we’re offering a space where women can come to feel their best, let loose and build a community that extends beyond the mat. I want this space to be what it was for me when I first started in the industry.”
