Helmsley Spear LLC represented the St. George Tower co-op in a lease between East Gate Investors and SC Holdings to lease space at St. George Tower, 53 Clark St. in Brooklyn Heights. The lease for 52,000 square feet provides for a new private health club and wellness facility.

43 Clark Street is a building formerly part of the St. George Hotel and now a residential co-op. The lease covers the below grade floor, lower-level ground and second floors. The announcement was made by Kent M. Swig, president of Helmsley Spear LLC, and Andrew Simon, executive vice president of Helmsley Spear.

Helmsley Spear’s Michael Dubin, executive managing director, represented the co-op  in this transaction. The St. George Tower co-op board was also represented by Bruce Lederman and Grace Betancourt of DL Partners.

“I am proud to represent the co-op in bringing this new addition to St. George Tower and historic Brooklyn Heights. This facility will be a wonderful complement not only to the residential co-op, but to the entire Brooklyn Heights community. The co-op envisions a high-end private heath, wellness and sports facility and club that will offer a superior suite of amenities unavailable today within this vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood,” Dubin said.

The greater site was also formerly the renowned St. George Hotel, established in the late 19th century. Over the years, it was transformed into various uses with the façade of the St. George Tower co-op restored only five years ago. Since 1984, St. George Tower has been a luxury residential co-op within the historic complex.
