GPS Air Launches SmartIAQ GridSet to Help Reduce HVAC Costs

GPS Air, a provider of indoor air quality (IAQ) solutions, announced the launch of SmartIAQ GridSet, an air cleaning system designed to help building owners and designers reduce HVAC equipment costs and energy use by cleaning air directly within occupied spaces.

Purpose-built for single-zone applications such as classrooms, SmartIAQ GridSet lays into suspended grid ceilings or surface mounts on finished ceilings and delivers verified indoor air quality, enabling more efficient HVAC designs in new construction, upgrade and replacement projects.

School districts are balancing sustainability and indoor air quality goals alongside tight budgets, aging infrastructure and evolving facility needs. When new classrooms are built, schools expand or existing systems reach end of life, ventilation requirements determine larger equipment and increased project costs. SmartIAQ GridSet relieves budget and design pressure by cleaning and verifying air quality directly in the room, thereby reducing the amount of outdoor air that must be conditioned. For engineering teams, SmartIAQ GridSet aligns with ASHRAE Standard 62.1 through the Indoor Air Quality Procedure (IAQP), providing a standards-based path to deliver equivalent indoor air quality with more right-sized HVAC designs.

“Classrooms are the hardest places to justify high outdoor airflow rates, and the easiest places to apply IAQP,” said Audwin Cash, CEO of GPS Air. “That’s why schools don’t need more complexity. They need solutions that install quickly and perform predictably.”

SmartIAQ GridSet provides verified, in-room air cleaning designed to support ASHRAE 62.1’s IAQP, enabling lower outdoor air requirements. By enabling outdoor air reductions of 25% to 70% versus traditional ventilation rate designs, SmartIAQ GridSet can meaningfully reduce conditioning load, shrink equipment requirements and lower energy use and total project cost. Maintenance is minimized with a two-year filter life and service access from below the ceiling grid using a single CompleteAQ filter for PM, VOCs and HCHO.

For facilities that want deeper visibility and system integration, SmartIAQ GridSet Pro adds expanded sensing and, when paired with the Hub-4 Pro, enables BACnet or Modbus connectivity to a building management system (BMS) for centralized monitoring and control. One HubPro connects up to four units to a BMS system.
