Bodybar Pilates Opens First Kentucky Studio

Bodybar Pilates, the reformer-based Pilates studio, has officially opened its first studio in The Bluegrass State at 4257 Harrodsburg Road in the Ethington Shops, located in the Palomar neighborhood of Lexington, Kentucky.

Bodybar Pilates Palomar is owned and operated by Cara and Jason Groth, a husband‑and‑wife duo deeply rooted in the Lexington community. Jason, a longtime physician assistant, and Cara, a pharmacist of 23 years, were inspired to bring Bodybar to Kentucky after their daughter, a professional ballerina, began working at a Bodybar studio in Georgia.

“We want every person who walks through our doors to feel seen, supported, and like they truly belong here,” said Cara Groth, co‑owner of Bodybar Pilates Palomar. “Pilates is for everybody, and Lexington is ready for a space that prioritizes physical, mental, and social wellness. Our goal is to build a community where people can move, connect, and feel encouraged at every stage of life.”

Jason Groth added, “As a PA, I see firsthand how movement, strength, and mobility impact long‑term health. Pilates offers benefits that support people of all ages, from building core strength to improving balance and overall, well‑being. We’re excited to help our neighbors invest in their health and feel confident in their bodies.”

Founded to redefine fitness, Bodybar Pilates’ mission is to cultivate a balanced, athletic, and real community. The Palomar studio spans 2,500 square feet and features 14 Reformers, offering Bodybar’s signature athletic Pilates classes led by certified instructors. The studio also offers private lessons during non‑class hours and a curated boutique featuring Bodybar merchandise.

“Lexington’s Southern charm and growing wellness scene makes it a great city for a Bodybar Pilates,” said Kamille McCollum, chief brand officer, president, and co‑founder of Bodybar Pilates. “Cara and Jason are deeply committed to creating a supportive, inclusive environment where members feel empowered. We’re thrilled to have them join us as franchise owners and welcome new members to our first Kentucky studio.”

Bodybar Pilates serves over 21,000 members across 86 studios, with another 30 opening this year. The Groths plan to expand with additional Bodybar locations across Lexington in the coming years.
