Condé Nast International has announced the launch of a new fashion title, which will focus on the business of the fashion industry. Analysts say the move is both an attempt to tap into new sources of revenue and a part of a shift in media toward more niche publications. According to Condé Nast International, Vogue Business will cover “the market currents, cultural movements, trends and technologies that will impact the fashion industry.”
In a statement, Condé Nast said, “We are constantly evaluating how we work across countries and brands and how we develop our products to expand our global leadership in fashion, luxury and lifestyle spaces.”
According to BBC, 7,000 industry professionals were involved in the beta-testing of Vogue Business, including senior executives at some of the world’s largest fashion brands.
In an interview with Mark Mulligan of MIDiA Research, he says “Where more mainstream titles struggle for relevance and readership, print edition niche magazines have proven to have strong, long term appeal with their respective niches.”
