City Furniture announced the launch of the 3D Cloud Sectional Configurator, a hybrid shopping experience that enables customers and sales associates to build sectionals, review dimensions and download WebAR OnDemand.

The configurator is accessible directly from e-commerce product detail pages, and is available for use with a store associate during showroom visits. The goal is to drive more sales by enabling both customers and associates to create custom configurations of any size and to complete the purchase online or in a store.

The popular Nixon and CityMod sectional families are already available for configuration, with more coming soon. Key benefits of the 3D Cloud Sectional Configurator include:

  • Custom, personalized configuration: Configure layouts with endless variations, select fabric choices and choose components directly on the product page. Eight percent of shoppers choose a custom configuration.
  • Confidence that a purchase will fit: Dimensions update automatically as pieces are added, removed or rearranged.
  • Configurations in context: Use WebAR OnDemand to visualize a configuration in your space.
  • Save and share: Download screenshots to compare options or discuss with family and a sales associate. Ten percent of users share their configuration.
  • More sales and larger baskets: Create custom SKUs on the fly and sell any size sectional. Shoppers average about eight pieces per session, and over 30% add their configuration to cart.

Until now, City Furniture has sold only preset sectional combinations online. “The 3D Cloud Sectional Configurator makes designing a custom sectional in any possible configuration simple and enjoyable,” said Andrew Koenig, CEO of City Furniture. “Customers can explore options, confirm live measurements and see the fit at home before they buy. We are already seeing strong engagement, with customers spending nearly seven minutes in the experience, and around 10% of product page visitors choosing to customize a sectional in the tool,” Koenig added. “3D Cloud has been an excellent innovation partner as we continue to raise the bar on customer experience.”

  • Add components: Choose pieces, like the CityMod armless chair, CityMod table media console with storage drawer, and left or right chaises, until your layout is complete.
  • Customize and confirm: Pick a color (white, beige, green, blue, dark gray or light gray) and check live measurements as you adjust the design.
  • Save and buy: Download a screenshot, view the configuration in AR, add to cart and place your order.

“It’s a privilege to partner with a leadership and project team that is both inventive and customer-obsessed,” said Beck Besecker, CEO and co-founder of 3D Cloud. “City Furniture is using 3D Cloud to remove friction from the buying journey, publish new options quickly and keep shoppers curious about what’s next.”
