For designer Hayden Cherouny, the most successful piece of clothing is not necessarily the one that makes the biggest statement. It is the piece that quietly becomes a favorite—the skirt reached for again and again, the trousers that work from morning through evening, the familiar silhouette that eventually inspires a search for another version. This relationship between clothing and everyday life sits at the heart of Hayden Cherouny, the New York-based label named for Cherouny.
Now, with Fall/Winter 2026, Cherouny presents the brand’s second collection, building directly on the foundation established with its debut earlier this year. Rather than treating the new season as a departure, the designer sees it as a continuation: a chance to revisit ideas, silhouettes and fabrics introduced in the first offering and develop them further. The result is a compact six-look collection—four womenswear looks and two menswear looks—that feels increasingly assured in its point of view.
“I aim to create foundational pieces that can become an essential part of someone’s closet,” Cherouny explained. “Though I love creating garments for a certain moment in time or event, what really interests me is how specific articles become a part of someone’s everyday.”
That philosophy is particularly evident in the collection’s approach to proportion. Shorter skirts from the debut evolved into longer iterations for Fall/Winter 2026, including the Long Relay Skirt, a standout in deep wool suiting designed to transition easily from day to evening. The idea is not simply to reproduce a successful design but to explore what happens when a familiar garment is subtly altered—lengthened, refined or reinterpreted—while maintaining the qualities that made the original compelling.
Fabric plays an equally important role. Plaids became an early focus for the season as Cherouny explored how the familiar pattern could be elevated. Suiting fabrics remain central to the brand’s developing vocabulary, including a deep gray-green striped wool that connects the Fall/Winter 2026 collection to the materials of the debut. The palette and textiles give the clothes a quiet sophistication while keeping them grounded in the practicality that defines the designer’s approach.
For Cherouny, however, the distinction is often in the details. Rather than relying on overt embellishment, he uses construction, fit and technical elements to shift classic silhouettes into something more individual. The collection’s cargo pants are a particularly strong example, incorporating considered details that give the utilitarian staple a more refined character. Across the six looks, familiar garments reveal their individuality through closer examination.
That attention to fit and construction has roots in Cherouny’s professional background. After studying fashion at Parsons School of Design, he worked with luxury clothing brands in New York before moving to Los Angeles, where he began working with stylist Jared Ellner on the development of his capsule collection. The experience proved formative, exposing him to the world of styling and sharpening his understanding of fit and precision. Cherouny’s experience working across design and styling continues to inform a label centered on how clothing actually functions on the person wearing it.
The result is a young brand that feels less interested in chasing the new for its own sake and more invested in developing a recognizable wardrobe over time. Even the label’s existing offering reflects this approach, with pieces such as the Striped Vale Polo described as a reworking of a timeless silhouette through tactile fabrication and refined proportions.
For Fall/Winter 2026, Cherouny says the response to his first collection gave him the confidence to trust his instincts and to lean further into the elements that resonated most.
“I wanted this collection to feel like a progression—more refined, and a truer expression of the brand than the last,” he said.
It is an apt description of a label that’s still in its formative stages but already establishing a clear philosophy: fashion designed not simply to be noticed, but to be lived in. As Hayden Cherouny continues to develop, its ambition is refreshingly straightforward—to create the pieces that eventually become the ones you cannot imagine your wardrobe without.
