This week, Qatch, an online shopping platform, opened to the public.

Qatch is a tapback-driven SMS shopping platform for women who need an easier way to discover clothing online. Qatch scours the internet and uses machine learning to continuously improve fashion suggestions and share them with users via text. Qatch lets the shopper to share what they love (or don’t) with a simple heart, thumbs up or thumbs down text response. Members can also shop products their friends or favorite influencers have also loved. Members receive personal recommendations from more than 100 brands, including Nordstrom, Macy’s, Banana Republic, Free People Revolve and many others.

In one month, Qatch captures more data points from its users than Stitch Fix does in one year, the platform reported. Part of that individual user data includes a user’s Instagram profile, which almost 80% of its users share with them. Social media allows Qatch to incorporate a social shopping experience but deliver it in a personal and private setting.

Access to detailed behavioral user data helps inform their recommendation engine in ways that e-commerce platforms can’t, Qatch said. In addition, it has developed a tagging system that automatically tags more than one million products with objective and proprietary subjective tags to make non-linear, predictive recommendations at scale.
