Drawing on Umbro’s English football heritage and Steven Mena’s Los Angeles upbringing, WSS today announced Umbro x Steven Mena x WSS, an exclusive collection connecting two fútbol cultures through a Southeast Los Angeles point of view.
Born from Los Angeles culture and the rituals that bring communities together, the collection explores what happens when blokecore meets barrio and the pitch meets the block. Designed, directed and produced by Mena, the 23-piece lineup reimagines classic fútbol style across jerseys, polos, denim, jackets, windbreakers and hoodies.
“When I was designing this collection, I kept thinking about myself as a kid going into WSS and what I would’ve been excited to find there,” said Mena. “I wanted to take Umbro’s football heritage and put my own LA perspective into it. There’s a lot of shared pride in your neighborhood, your team and how you dress. For my first collection under my own name, getting to bring those worlds together at a place I grew up shopping at makes it especially meaningful.”
“Steven has built a creative legacy by bringing the voice and style of Los Angeles to a wider audience,” said Blanca Gonzalez, senior vice president and general manager of WSS. “Together with Umbro, a brand with more than a century of football heritage, we’re proud to amplify his vision and give our passionate fútbol fans a collection that connects the history of the game with how our communities live it today—through sport, style and culture.”
