Paris-based fashion label MM6 Maison Margiela and French outdoor brand Salomon are releasing a new collection as part of their footwear collaboration, which started in 2022. The new chapter revisits earlier prototypes from the four-year partnership and adds two new designs. The link between the two labels was strengthened earlier this year, when MM6 designer Heikki Salonen was appointed creative director of Salomon.
The first drop brings the XT-MM6 back in three new colorways: a multicolor version, a tapioca-and-violet combination and deep green. It is joined by a new model, the MM6 Crossderby, which pairs a classic Derby-style upper in shiny black leather with an outdoor sole and Salomon’s drawstring lacing system.
The drop also includes the return of the XT-15 backpack, now with a white rain cover carrying a black logo.
The second drop introduces the MM6 XT-Boot, an evolution of an earlier design. It combines a soft inner shoe that wraps around the foot with an upper that both brands compare to the hood of a puffer jacket, and it can be worn open from the calf like a boot or drawn in closer to the leg. It comes in vanilla ice, black and dusty yellow.
