Designer brand Rag & Bone just announced that it will no longer be having its New York Fashion Week (NYFW) show at The Shed at Hudson Yards. The brand is the second to change venues amidst controversy surrounding Related Construction and real estate developer Stephen Ross, who are behind the Hudson Yards development.
The controversy stems from Ross’ recent fundraiser for President Donald Trump. The fundraiser was held at Ross’ Hamptons home, and tickets were priced from $100,000 to $250,000, according to the Washington Post. Related Cos. is also the owner of several other organizations, including SoulCycle and parent company Equinox.
Despite reports that The Shed at Hudson Yards is supposed to be the new home of NYFW, Rag & Bone says that they will no longer show their spring 2020 collection there. A new location for the showing has not been confirmed, WWD reports.
American fashion designer Prabal Gurung was the first to pull out of his spring 2020 showing at Hudson Yards.
“I was previously in conversation with Hudson Yards’ The Vessel as the venue for my brand’s upcoming 10 year show during NYFW,” Gurung wrote in a tweet on August 7. “When I heard about this fundraiser, I chose to pull my participation.”
Similarly, designers Humberto Leon and Dana Lorenz have expressed anger about Ross’ fundraiser, WWD reports.
Despite this recent controversy, Fashionista reports that a number of other designers are still slated to show at Hudson Yards.
