Supermodel-turned-mogul Kathy Ireland, who is scheduled to release her highly-anticipated first novel, “Fashion Jungle,” co-written with No. 1 New York Times Bestselling Author Rachel Van Dyken, teamed with Apple Books to release a Special Edition of “Fashion Jungle.” “Into the Jungle” is a prequel novella to the “Valley of the Dolls” meets “Sex in the City” exciting new novel. Loosely based on Ireland’s life in the industry, “Fashion Jungle” is an incredibly relevant novel that tells the story of four women in the fashion world who seem to have it all but are barely hanging on by a thread. “Into the Jungle” follows the life of one of the women, Brittany, prior to her finding success in the fashion world. In “Into the Jungle,” readers take the journey with Brittany as she first arrives in the Big Apple, a naive teenager looking to pursue a career in modeling, and is thrust into the glamorous, dangerous and deadly world of New York’s fashion jungle.

“‘Fashion Jungle’ is the one story I never expected to tell,” said Ireland. “I entered the jungle at the age of 16 and made wonderful friends and more than a few enemies. We wrote ‘Into the Jungle’ because we thought it was critical to give the back story to Brittany for several reasons … the importance of having Faith which is available to everyone and being nurtured by an unbreakable family support system that you can rely on, no matter the crisis or tragedy. Next was to show that no matter what background we come from, we must know our value and put boundaries in place to protect ourselves. Any of us who enter ‘the jungle’ can find ourselves in dangerous, unsavory and illegal situations human trafficking, rape, sexual abuse of children… what begins as recreational drug and alcohol use can quickly become addictive. Political intrigue, power which corrupts… for so many beautiful images that emerge from the jungle, what isn’t known is the price of broken hearts, suicide and, yes, even murder, all spun in a glamorous world of fantasy.”

Ireland entered the modeling world as a teen and quickly took the industry by storm, gracing the covers of top fashion magazines worldwide, including Vogue, Teen, Cosmopolitan and Mademoiselle, and appearing in 13 consecutive Sports Illustrated issues, including three of its covers, one of which is confirmed by Sports Illustrated as the bestselling issue of all time. In 1993, Ireland founded Kathy Ireland Worldwide, a global marketing and branding firm. Ireland has also been featured on the cover of Forbes magazine twice (2012, 2016) and was named one of the most influential women in licensing by License Global Magazine, as well as one of the 50 most influential women in fashion by Fairchild Publications.

“It’s been such an incredible journey being able to partner with Apple books and bring an exclusive prequel novella to the table with ‘Into The Jungle,'” Dyken said. “We thought it would be such a fun experience for readers to see how things came to be in the world of ‘Fashion Jungle,’ and ‘Into the Jungle’ does exactly that, starting on day one of four teen girls trying to navigate the tumultuous waters of the New York City fashion scene. Kathy has been so transparent and open in her writing, and I’m so thankful that we’ve been able to work on the project together and bring something new and exciting to Apple books!”
