The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual fundraising gala, known as “The Met Gala,” has been postponed indefinitely until the threat posed by the coronavirus has passed.
Anna Wintour, editor of Vogue and chairwoman for the event, addressed the event’s delay in her most recent editor’s letter.
“Due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, ‘About Time,’ and the opening night gala, will be postponed to a later date,” Wintour wrote.
All three of The Met’s locations have been closed since March 13 in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The gala is the latest event to be cancelled or postponed because of the virus.
