Privately held real estate owner/manager Rudin announced that Mehul J. Patel has joined the company as senior vice president, head of commercial office.
In the newly created position, Patel will oversee all disciplines related to Rudin’s 10.5 million-square-foot commercial office portfolio. Patel will supervise asset management, property management, development, leasing and marketing, as well as operational and capital expenditures across Rudin’s 16 commercial buildings.
Patel comes to Rudin from Midtown Equities, where he most recently served as chief operating officer. In this capacity, he led deal execution for development, leasing and asset management across the firm’s portfolio and investment pipeline. He also previously served as chief operating officer at Midwood Investment & Development.
He also spent seven-and-a-half years shaping major economic development initiatives, first as vice president of the Moynihan Station Development Corporation and then as chief operating officer and chief of staff at Empire State Development.
Patel currently serves on the board of the Coro New York Leadership Center and is a trustee of the Urban Land Institute, which previously recognized him with their Global 40 Under 40 award. He also serves as a director on the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation and is an adjunct professor at Columbia University teaching Public Private Partnerships in Real Estate Development. He holds a master’s in real estate eevelopment from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in architecture and urban studies from Yale University.
