The Altman Companies, a developer, builder and manager of rental apartment communities, will return to its roots with the launch of a new division, Altman Living, focused on creating affordable and workforce housing.
The division intends to address the growing need for affordable housing in our communities and will serve as a strategic investment to complement and enhance the business of The Altman Companies as a premier real estate developer. Industry veteran David Schultz has joined the company as president of Altman Living.
The Altman Companies originally established its reputation as a developer of affordable housing in Michigan. Altman Living will properties that are accessible and affordable to individuals and families across the economic spectrum, working with various state, local and federal housing programs to produce workforce, affordable and mixed-income housing options. By returning to its roots in affordable housing, The Altman Companies will focus on addressing the critical need for affordable housing across the Southeast and up to the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Schultz brings extensive experience in the affordable housing sector to the role. Prior to joining The Altman Companies, Schultz worked with Community Housing Partners (CHP) as vice president of development, where he developed over 35 affordable communities in Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland. He also founded Triad Housing Partners, a multifamily residential real estate development and construction company focused on developing low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) and market-rate condominiums and townhomes, where he directed daily activities of the company with properties located in Florida, Texas, and Arizona.

Schultz graduated from The University of Pennsylvania and completed postgraduate coursework at the Wharton School of Business.
