Radio Hotel and Tower, Washington Heights’ first-ever full-service boutique hotel and first-of-its-kind mixed-used development, is turning heads with its eccentric design and massive stature.
In a neighborhood of low-rise Art Deco traditional brick buildings, the 72-story Radio Hotel and Tower stands out with its Lego-like structure and brightly colored exterior. But, as much as the building stands out, it actually completely blends in.
Internationally renowned design architect MVRDV and New York-based architect of record Stonehill Taylor intentionally designed the property to celebrate the vibrancy, diversity, and atmosphere of Washington Heights. Finding inspiration in existing architectural patterns found throughout the neighborhood and adopting the vibrant colors of local storefronts and bodegas, MVRDV and Stonehill Taylor designed Radio Hotel and Tower to resemble a vertically built Washington Heights. Even the interiors match the energy of Washington Heights, with color coordinated fixtures and décor.
