The Yorktown Planning Board recently approved the construction of the Town’s first boutique hotel in the Yorktown Heights business corridor.
The approval permits a three-story, 18-room hotel on the corner of Veterans Road and Commerce Street. The Gardena hotel will feature a café, a rooftop bar and grill and off-street parking.
“This boutique hotel is a major step in revitalizing our town’s business corridors with new uses that will support the surrounding stores and restaurants,” said Supervisor Tom Diana. “I want to thank the Planning Board for its careful review of this proposal.”
In 2021, the Town Board voted to adopt overlay zoning districts in Yorktown Heights’ and Lake Osceola’s business hamlets. The goal of the overlay districts is to encourage the creative redevelopment of functionally outdated properties, a greater flexibility of permitted land uses and visually harmonious streetscapes.
According to the town’s zoning code language, a boutique hotel is a small, luxury hotel that does not have more than 25 rooms and that offers an enhanced level of services with unique accommodations.
