Monique Lhuillier announced the opening of its Madison Avenue New York City Flagship Salon on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Maintaining its signature elements, the new intimate boutique is situated at 818 Madison Avenue, between 68th and 69th Streets in a prominently visible townhouse. The store is spread out over 4,200 square feet of selling and support space and will continue to house Monique Lhuillier’s entire ready-to-wear, bridal, and accessories collections, along with exclusive items.

“It has always been a dream of mine to have a Flagship Salon on Madison Avenue,” said designer and creative director Monique Lhuillier. “The visibility, prestige and natural light of Madison Avenue were all important aspects when looking to relocate our New York store. The ultra-luxurious monochromatic space is the perfect backdrop for showcasing my Ready to Wear, Evening, and Accessories Collections. The second floor is exclusively dedicated to everything Bridal.”

The design is an integrated series of intimate salons and vignettes that flow through the linear space. The wood flooring was stripped and preserved to reveal the original, white oak planks and a neutral grey tone added to soften the palette. An etched, translucent glass wall ties the first and second floor together allowing light to traverse the space. Custom hanging fixtures, crafted casework with travertine and glass shelves float within the space and complement the signature Monique Lhuillier grey palette.

“We wanted to rebalance the space without adding anything unnecessary,” said Montalba Architects founder, David Montalba. “A celebration of the subtle shades of natural light and reflection, the store is really a backdrop to the gowns so everything from the textured plaster to the seating is meant to convey this. The openness from the fitting rooms to the bridal salon feels luxurious yet private.”
