The Hunt, a second-hand social marketplace, has announced new ownership and investors. The roster now includes Fanatics Founder Michael Rubin (CEO of Kynetic, chairman of Fanatics and Rue Lala) and Rocco Basilico (CEO of Oliver Peoples, Rayban and Luxotica Eyewear) along with partners Andrew Resnick, Natalia Diaz and Nick Rose.
The Hunt functions as a platform designed to allow anyone to hunt for products worn by influential people. The platform uses a crowdsourcing model that helps identify where to buy an item. The new ownership aims to integrate the social, second-hand commerce platform for progression into 2020 while keeping the original integrity of the discovery mechanism, the company said.
“Through technology, we’re constantly on the hunt for the latest fashion trends,” said Diaz, co-founder of The Hunt. “Whether it’s through social platforms, blogs, TV shows, music videos or films, we created a hub that centralizes our searches in one platform, allowing anyone to buy, sell and find trends that are worn by the world’s leading fashion and brand curators.”
The Hunt has also introduced a “VIP component,” where users can purchase directly from influencer and celebrity closets in a more curated format, offering special on-boarding services to the talent sellers.
“Resale is the most sustainable fashion,” said Resnick, co-founder. “Now more than ever, people are wearing clothes only one time, and then it just sits in their closet. Ironically, the nicer the piece, the less it is worn. We believe that the Hunt gives the aspirational consumer a chance to own a piece of something they consider cool and of quality. Our customers have an emotional connection with influencers and celebrities, and we aim to be an extension of it while helping preserve the environment.”
