Online-only, multi-brand shop Wmnswr has announced that it will accept cryptocurrency as payment. A growing number of independent fashion brands have been adding cryptocurrency as an accepted payment method, though Wmnswr will be the first U.S.-based platform of its kind to do so.

The brand’s website now accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin as payment, in addition to more traditional payment methods.

“Fashion is always evolving — not only aesthetically but also in how it is consumed and purchased. We see adding cryptocurrency today as comparable to setting up a webstore in the early aughts. This is how we continue to move forward and ensure a seamless, efficient and user-friendly experience for our consumers now and in the future,” the company said in a statement.

Designed as a digital asset, cryptocurrencies are kept on a shared ledger called a blockchain. Because blockchain is unalterable, cryptocurrency increases transparency, providing security and safety to both the customer and the merchant.

Wmnswr currently vends luxury brands, including Burberry, Moschino, Givenchy and Saint Laurent, as well as independent brands, including Booty Clothing, Sheep Shades and Tie Dye Women.
