Cory Gubner is president and CEO of RHYS, a commercial real estate firm based in Stamford, CT. His company specializes in property leasing, sales, consulting and advisory services to major landlords and businesses throughout Fairfield, Westchester, and other parts of New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. He has more than 28 years of experience serving commercial real estate clients and has overseen transactions with an aggregate value in excess of three billion dollars.
Today, Gubner oversees all aspects of RHYS including retail leasing, office leasing, and investment sales. He is consistently featured on expert panels and performs numerous speaking engagements to the industry. Since 1998, this industry leader has built and led three commercial real estate companies from the ground up. He was responsible for all aspects of founding, growing, and eventually merging and/or selling each of the companies where he also spearheaded investment sales at each respective firm.
Prior to his role at RHYS, Gubner formed Chase Commercial in 1998 and merged Chase Commercial with GVA Williams in 2002, which was purchased six years later by FirstService Corporation. Before he founded Chase Commercial, he spent ten years with Pyramid Real Estate, becoming a full partner in 1995.

What made you decide to get into real estate?
A friend in college suggested it would be a good fit for me, and it was!

What pushes you to the next level?
The desire to be great at what I do and always beat the competition while serving my clients.
What is your secret weapon for sealing a deal?
Staying on it, covering all bases, and making sure all parties are focused on the prize at the end.
What is the hottest area for deals right now?
Medical office, multifamily, and well-positioned standard office, industrial, and retail deals are what are hot.
What’s the best season for deals?
All seasons are good for deals these days, but spring and fall historically tend to be the best.
If you had to work in a city other than Stamford, where would it be?
Miami! I love the action, the weather, the feel, and it’s just a great place to live and work. Plus I’d be much tanner.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to someone starting in the business?
Outwork everyone and be strategic about which assignments you work on; make sure you are constantly growing.
