Brooklyn Deli to Open in Times Square

Brooklyn is moving to Times Square, at least in terms of food. Fireman Hospitality Group has signed a 4,960-square-foot lease for its Brooklyn Delicatessen fast-casual restaurant at 1501 Broadway, the Paramount Building.

Newmark’s Vice Chairman Ben Birnbaum, Senior Managing Director Ross Berkowitz and Associate Directors Andrew Taub and Jason Wecker were the sole brokers on the lease transaction. Levin Management Corporation and Rosemark Management serve as owner representatives for the Times Square landmark property, which was built in 1926 as the East Coast headquarters of Paramount Pictures.

“We’re witnessing a great comeback in the retail sector with the increased vaccination rates and loosening of restrictions within the region,” Birnbaum said. “World-famous retail corridors like Times Square are coming back, and its great to witness that the neighborhood is welcoming both New York area icons like Brooklyn Delicatessen and national brands back to the bowtie.”

The new Brooklyn Delicatessen location marks its second spot in the city after 57th Street and 7th Ave. The classic New York-style delicatessen serves hot pastrami, hot corned beef and roasted turkey reubens on a potato bun. They also offer classic hot sandwiches on marble rye, Roman-style pizza, chicken soup, eggface sandwiches, artisanal egg jars and breakfast pizzas.

Brooklyn Delicatessen is part of the Fireman Hospitality Group’s collection of family-owned restaurants, which includes the Redeye Grill, Bond 45, Cafe Fiorello, Brooklyn Diner, Fiorella Italian Kitchen and Trattoria Dell’Arte.
