Specialized finance company Icon International signed for 60,826 square foot at Stamford Plaza in Connecticut, announced RFR. Icon returns to the high-visibility complex from Greenwich and will occupy the top two floors at the 253,000-square-foot Four Stamford Plaza, located at 107 Elm St. in downtown Stamford.

“RFR is happy to welcome Icon’s return to the portfolio,” said Margaret Carlson of RFR, who represented the landlord.  “Icon understands the value of providing a quality office and lifestyle experience for its workforce. The recent renovation at Stamford Plaza gives the firm a distinctive option that offers beautiful and collaborative office spaces, a robust suite of amenities and, of course, the benefits of RFR’s well-known commitment to providing contemporary workspaces for the thriving southwestern Connecticut market.”

The principals at Icon and Carlson have a 30-year relationship — Carlson connected Icon with the Stamford Boys and Girls club, resulting in the creation of the Icon Invitational golf tournament, which the company has sponsored for 20 years while also providing support for the club’s numerous community events.

The one million-square-foot Stamford Plaza complex is home to firms ranging from asset managers and financial services firms to life sciences, consumer product and media companies. It was acquired by RFR in 2007. In 2019, RFR executed significant capital improvements at Stamford Plaza.
