The Displaced Homemakers Network of New Jersey and The Center for Real Estate Education in Hackensack, NJ have partnered to create the NJ Women in Real Estate Education Initiative. Through this program, qualifying women may receive a grant to take a 6-week real estate education course which will include, the required licensing class to become a New Jersey real estate salesperson, Property Management Certification, Office Management & Transaction Coordinator Certification, and Field Work Internships.
The Displaced Homemakers Network of New Jersey empowers women in transition to become economically self-sufficient through education, work readiness, outreach, and support services. “Many of our clients are coming out of a divorce or have been working in the home for many years. They are looking for careers that enable them to be both the breadwinner and caretaker. Our Centers help women find employment that meets their diverse family needs,” says Laura Troy, President of the Displaced Homemakers Network of New Jersey. “The Center for Real Estate Education developed a comprehensive real estate education program that provides training for multiple career options within real estate.”
The field work internships will be offered through the Alexander Anderson Real Estate Group, a New Jersey brokerage which offers residential sales, commercial sales, property management, and an investment group, enabling participants to get a taste of multiple areas within real estate. The Alexander Anderson Real Estate Group is also providing scholarships to supplement a portion of each tuition, allowing more women to take advantage of the program. “The real estate industry values diversity. Real Estate is a career path that doesn’t discriminate by age or gender. Many people decide to make real estate their second career just for that reason”, Eric Anderson, CEO of Alexander Anderson Real Estate Group and state director of the Center for Real Estate Education explains, “We say that there can be ‘Freedom Through Real Estate’. We want to offer women the financial, personal, and emotional freedom that so many real estate career paths can provide.”
“Women do extremely well in real estate. It is an industry that celebrates multitasking, networking, relationships, and an eye for detail – all areas that women tend to shine in,” explains Noelle Frieson, director for the Center for Real Estate Education. “This program is close to my heart. As a recent divorcee, I understand having to reinvent your life and start anew. Real Estate was that fresh start for my family. Through this program, we are excited to provide the same to women across New Jersey.”
