The New York Association of Realty Managers (NYARM) brings its New York Accredited Realty Manager Certification candidates out of the classroom and into the field as part of its building-wellness approach to managing buildings.
NYARM recently began a wellness collaboration with Richard A. Ferdinand, the managing director of Telemedicine Clean Air Habitats LLC (TCAH). They provide easily installed “air scrubbing” systems that are simple, clean, safe and can remove airborne pathogens (such as viruses, bacteria, fungi and mold spores), common allergens, pollen and other pollutants. Ferdinand, while presenting at a recent NYARM seminar, introduced the concept that harnessing various attributes of ultraviolet, and then strategically placing a system in the workplace, can have a noticeable positive effect on workplace productivity.
What is especially intriguing about building-wellness, explained Margie Russell, NYARM’s executive director is that, “when the workplace environment’s wellness-factor is optimized, the measurable gains in employee performance and attendance, can be translated into real bottom-line dollars.”
Additionally, when using this ultraviolet light system building management may find significant, immediate and enduring cost savings in the heating and cooling categories, receive tax cuts, and achieve points toward LEED certification.
Building wellness will now be incorporated, whenever possible, into NYARM’s building management professional development programs.
On Tuesday, October 15, Greater New York Insurance (GNY) will host a NYARM-sponsored event, Water Damage Containment, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at GNY’s 200 Madison Avenue headquarters. A group of industry professionals involved in each aspect of the water-damage-cycle will discuss best practices. The event is free to NYARM members.
