Douglaston Development Tops Out 601 W. 29th Street in West Chelsea

The 60-story development, comprised of 938 rental units, over 50,000 square feet of amenity space and 15,000 square feet of Class-A retail space, will be ready for occupancy in Summer 2022

Douglaston Development recently announced the topping out of 601 West 29th Street, a mixed-use residential development spanning an entire block on 11th Avenue from West 29th to West 30th Streets. The 938-unit rental project will bring 703 market-rate and 235 affordable residences to the West Chelsea upon completion.

While this topping out milestone would traditionally be culminated with a celebratory lunch for the construction workers, this one will be denoted differently in light of the ongoing pandemic. To mark this occasion, project T-shirts will be made for all members of the workforce to safely acknowledge the project’s impressive and on-time progress.

Of the 938 residential units, 703 will be market rate and 235 will be affordable. Complementing the residential units, the project includes 50,000 square feet of amenities including multiple tenant lounges, a gym with fitness studios, an outdoor pool, multiple roof decks, indoor and outdoor pet spaces, a parking garage, and bike storage. Additionally, 601 West 29th Street will deliver 15,000 square feet of Class-A retail to the West Chelsea neighborhood.

Designed by FXCollaborative, with project construction being carried out by Levine Builders, construction began on 601 West 29th Street in 2019 and is on track to be delivered to the neighborhood in Summer 2022.
