Barbara Goldman has joined the Board of Advisors of OWAL a two-year-old property technology company. Launched in 2016, OWAL is considered a disruptor in the senior housing, multifamily and healthcare sectors because of its cloud-based video platform, which uses artificial intelligence and unique algorithms to enrich surveillance video, identify anomalous activities and send real time alerts to designated senior care, healthcare and residential building personnel.
Ms. Goldman, who is both an attorney and registered nurse, is currently employed by Autumn Lake Healthcare and is responsible for reviewing contracts, agreements, and project applications for licensed healthcare facilities owned by Autumn Lake. With more than 28 years of experience in healthcare, she previously held positions as Director of Licensing & Certification for the New Jersey Department of Health, and as Executive Director of the New Jersey Nursing Home Administrators Licensing Board.
“We are thrilled to have Barbara bring her extraordinary acumen and experience to our board,” points out Chaim Fried, OWAL’s CEO. “Her in-depth understanding of the kinds of security measures needed to protect the residents in long-term care facilities, while improving their quality of life, will make our services even more vital.”
Adds Ms. Goldman, “I see OWAL’s programs as a giant step for safety and security in licensed long-term care facilities. It is software that inherently improves quality of life for residents and accountability for everyone.”
In today’s proptech space, most video security solutions require large amounts of time to manage or money to upgrade. OWAL’s video platforms may be programmed for existing hardware, eliminating the need for costly hardware upgrades. Moreover, its proprietary software analyzes images in real time, identifies irregular activity, and it instantly alerts designated personnel so that a course of action may be quickly determined without constant monitoring.
In addition to helping identify such common issues in healthcare facilities and senior housing as flight risks, accidents, abuse surveillance situations and non-authorized personnel or visitors, OWAL’s facial recognition software is equally effective in multi-family residences, exposing everything from illegal sublets to smoking in hallways. The software can even pinpoint a robbery in progress with clear, concise images that may be immediately shared with law enforcement. It is a platform able to provide potential life-saving, crime deterring, and nuisance solving functions.
